Go-to coffee order: Oat Milk latte with honey and cinnamon

Shannon Dixon mastered the craft of coffee at age eight. The red-haired maven became her dad’s personal barista, wielding his Mr. Coffee machine with the precision required to brew the perfect cup.

"I wanted to be like my dad," Shannon said. "That's probably why I drink coffee."

Shannon began testing her skills at the professional level in 2011 and joined The Blend & co. barista team in 2017. Since her Mr. Coffee days, she's embraced more complicated brewing methods and expanded her knowledge of espresso. Working at The Blend & co. allowed Shannon to experience coffee in a new way.

“I really appreciate the notes and flavors that I pick up on in different coffees,” she said. “Before I didn’t appreciate coffee. I would just add lots of cream and sugar.”

This veteran barista takes pride in serving The Blend’s loyal customer base, whether she’s pouring latte art, grinding beans or listening to a customer describe his or her day. She feels at home with the community of baristas that commandeer the bar, as well as the one she helps facilitate with her friendly personality.

“The atmosphere of The Blend gives good vibes,” Shannon said. “It’s hard to be upset here or in a bad mood. It’s just a joyful place.”
